Responding with greater steadiness when tension arises

A coaching programme for professionals who want to respond with more freedom when automatic patterns take over

Recurring patterns

Do you notice that you keep running into the same patterns in different work situations? Maybe you have already tried to change things. You might even understand why you respond the way you do, yet in the moment, the same reaction takes over again.

This may indicate that the same underlying pattern is playing out across situations. In coaching, we explore not only situations where these patterns show up, but also situations that evoke a similar response. This creates space for change.

Examples of situations where you would like to respond differently:

  • You have ideas but do not share them in a meeting. You notice that the same thing happens when you take a course or find yourself in a new group. You withdraw, even though you would like to share your ideas and contribute.

  • You find it hard to deal with negative feedback from others. You shut down or react defensively. You might recognise this outside of work as well. This creates tension in the relationship, while you want to keep the relationship positive.

  • You have an important conversation with a client. The outcome of that conversation really matters. Just thinking about it already creates tension. You would like to remain calm and steady, even in conversations where the stakes are high.

In a coaching programme, we explore what happens in situations where tension arises. Gaining insight into the underlying patterns creates space for more freedom to choose how you respond.

This programme is for you if you:

  • notice that you do no respond in the way you would like to in certain work situations.

  • find yourself repeatedly falling into the same reactions or patterns.

  • feel that your expertise does not always come through when tension rises.

My approach

  • We start with situations that are currently on your mind. Together, we explore not only what happens in those specific situations, but also what similar situations evoke.

  • By consciously slowing down, you notice what happens in you when tension builds: what you feel, think, and tend to do automatically.

  • From there, we explore what you need to experience more choice in that situation. You discover new ways of responding that fit you.

  • Between sessions, you experiment with this in your daily work, so that new experiences become part of your practice.

By recognising tension earlier, automatic reactions lose their grip, creating more freedom in how you respond.

What changes?

  • You stay more connected to yourself in situations that previously triggered tension.

  • You share your ideas more easily and set clearer boundaries.

  • You receive feedback more calmly and approach difficult conversations with greater confidence.

  • You bring your expertise and strengths more fully into your work.

As a result, you work with more confidence, and your expertise and strengths can come through more fully.

Klantervaring

Ik voelde me echt gezien.”

How the coaching programme works

Intake & proposal

We start with an intake session, together with your manager if you wish. In this session, we explore your situation and the change you would like to create with this coaching programme.

Based on this, I create a proposal for a coaching programme tailored to your situation. After discussing and approving the proposal, the coaching programme begins.

Coaching programme

The coaching programme lasts on average 3–6 months, with 5 to 10 sessions of 1 to 1.5 hours.

Between sessions, there is brief online contact to reflect on what is happening in practice and what this means for the next step in the process.

Halfway through, we evaluate progress and adjust the focus where needed. At the end, we reflect on the process and discuss how you can continue applying what you have developed. If desired, this can be done together with your manager.

Employer Funding

Most organisations fully fund this coaching programme through development, training, or HR budgets (for example in the context of sustainable employability or personal leadership).

The invoice is sent directly to your organisation after approval.

Practical information

Sessions take place in an informal setting, online or in nature.

Coaching is available in Dutch, English, and French.
